Fooboys

The Fooboys are a couple of brothers that love photography.  We are currently living on opposite sides of the world at the moment but photography is the common interest that keeps us together.  This site helps us to share our photography with each other and with our family and friends.

Sharing our photos is a great way to give each other ideas and push each other to improve our photography.  The only drawback about photography is the desire to buy lots of new equipment or "toys" and we have both gotten a little Canon obsessed.  Oh well, it is all for a good cause I guess...

Aaron

Hello my name is Aaron and I live in Melbourne, Australia.

My day job is working in strategic development at a bank, however I enjoy photography as a creative outlet in my spare time.

Growing up I always liked photos and enjoyed being in photos as well as taking them.  I always wanted to learn more about photography however throughout school and university I took a more academic route and studied finance.  I still had an interest in photography but got all confused by terms such as aperture, f stops, focal length etc.  And the costs of decent camera equipment, film and processing expenses discouraged too much experimentation.

Then came digital!  Digital cameras revolutionised the way I thought about photography.  Suddenly I was free to experiment as much as I liked as there was no cost (except for the camera itself and batteries) or embarrassment (thanks to the delete button) of bad photos.  The only drawback (for other people) was my newly born obsession to take photos of everything.

When digital SLR cameras were released I got a Canon 300D and this was the camera that really opened my eyes about what is possible with photography and allowed me to really get creative and learn all the basics.

Since that time I decided to get a lot more serious about photography and got myself a Canon 1D Mark II.  This is is an awesome camera that has been an absolute joy to use (except that it is pretty big and heavy).  It is especially great for sports and action photography.

All kinds of photography interest me, but I really enjoy taking photos of people.  Whether its family, friends or a model, it is great to try and capture a little bit of a person's personality in a photo.  Plus I like to see people happy and smiling, and photos usually do that.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking though my galleries and look forward to hearing your feedback, both good and bad, as it is always good to know where I can improve.

Jason

I'm currently living and working as a pharmacist in London, United Kingdom.  The main reason for moving to the UK was to travel around Europe.  Travelling has helped to feed my passion for photography as I'm regularly seeing and experiencing many interesting places.

I've found travel photography to be a great learning experience as you have to be able to adapt to whatever conditions you are faced with and make the most of it as you often will not get a second chance to capture an image when you are travelling.

Like Aaron, I also began with a Canon 300D, but when I decided to upgrade the Canon 5D made more sense as I predominantly do landscape photography.  Though hardly "travelling light", my kit is designed to provide a good trade off between portability and having a lens to cover as many situations as possible.

I hope you enjoy looking though my galleries.
